English Pointers
Background
I am retired and my dogs are my main interest.
I have hunted Quail, Pheasant, Grouse, Woodcock for more than
50 years. I also field trial and have been seriously involved
for more than 15 years. I compete in walking trials but have dogs
that have sufficient range for horseback trials. My dogs are all
broke to wing and shot and I expect them to handle.
Breeding Philosophy
My philosophy is to select the best females
based on hunting and trialing and breed those females to the best
stud dogs in the U. S.. The females selected are hunted
on wild birds (grouse, woodcock, quail, pheasant) at least 20
days per year and compete in at least 15 USCSDA walking trials
per year. The females are usually not bred before they are
4 years of age. "There are two well known blood lines,
Elhew and Miller, which have produced my best bitches. I believe
the Elhew influence is intelligence, conformation, and biddability
whereas the Miller influence is primarily natural coursing ability,
intelligence and stamina. I continue to combine these bloodlines
using critical selections as described above coupled with DNA
indicators." I like beautiful, classy, fast moving dogs as
well as anyone but they must be good bird dogs as well and know
how and where to hunt wild birds. They must back and retrieve
also.
"My dogs won one championship, one classic, 10 other 1st
places and 12 other 2nds and 3rds during the 2008-2009 trial season.
They were hunted two weeks in Wisconsin and had more than 40
grouse and more than 30 woodcock killed over their points. They
were also hunted a week in Kansas and had a few pheasants and
more than 30 quail killed over their points. In other words,
I HAD A GREAT YEAR!!
Bob's Miller Sue won the Region 3 AFTCA Walking
Shooting Dog Championship at West End, North Carolina with a beautiful,
searching, 4 find and 1 back effort. My two first year shooting
dog females, Bob's Elhew Wendy and Bob's Elhew Chase, had seven
shooting dog placements. Wendy had a great season culminating
in a great 6 find performance in the US Complete National Championship
at Patrick, South Carolina in blistering 88 degree weather. Movement
on her last find at time eliminated her from consideration but
of the 10 dogs that ran that day in the heat only two finished
and the other dog which ran with Wendy only had one divided find."
1-0-0 Watch out for Pat this Year
|
| "I have a beautiful
liver and white male, Pat, whelped on 7/5/06 for sale.
This is an outstanding male and should go to a field trialer
or a serious hunter. He is steady to wing and shot, backs
on sight, and has been force broke to retrieve. He was hunted
11 days in Wisconsin in October and pointed several grouse and
woodcock and backed his dam several times. This dog reminds
me very much of Elhew Snakefoot. He is out of Hobbs Pete
Rose ex Bob's Elhew Josie (Elhew Seahorse ex Osage Evolution).
Josie is the best wild bird dog I have ever owned.
The dog will only be sold if I have lifetime breeding privileges
to him. The price is $5000." |

Bob's Elhew Maggie 29-2-14
Maggie will be retired to hunting
only after a great field trial career. I plan to have one more
litter out of her in early 2010. My last litter out of Maggie's
older sister(Bob's Elhew Josie) produced a champion and Maggie's
last litter produced a champion.
