| Welcome to the April/May issue of Bird
Dog & Retriever News. Thanks to all that sent letters and
e-mails regarding Jazz. There was a very short period of mourning
at the Guldan household. When we get a pup we realize it is a
birth to death proposition. Jazz had a good life and thankfully
died in her sleep laying next to the bed where she had spent
12+ years. I did not need to have the needle of death put in
her nor did she die in a kennel while we were at the SHOT show.
I am very happy how the entire thing turned out. Jazz was a good
dog who's years had come to the end. A day earlier she was running,
and chasing squirrels before her final stroke... we should all
hope for such a peaceful end. Ellen, Ron and I just returned from the SHOT show. It was another spectacular event. I got to talk with hundreds of people including: Larry Czonka who was nice enough to autograph Ron's picture, the editor of Gun Dog magazine, one of the Cabela's I believe it was Mike, and a few hundred other people to numerous to mention. Ellen and I had a great time, my dad even made some great connections for his deer farm. We will be doing the Shot Show in a three year tour so we can get out to see more of you. The same week as the SHOT show was Westminster Kennel Club Show, the Pittsburgh and Harrisburg Sport Shows, all of which we would like to attend. But we'll get to them all given time. We are at the peak of the springs banquet season. One issue that I think bears repeating, we will donate to your event if we can. We donate to about a dozen banquets and about 30 trials and tests each week. If you sent something in and we did not donate to it your probably missing one of three things. First we need to know who to send the donation to. About a quarter of the people that are refused requested donations, do not tell me where to send it, I need a mailing address. About half the people sending in requests, never tell us "how many people will be there". Do I send out 50 cards or 500? Lacking that, with a dozen other requests, I simply send nothing. The third requirement, is the date of the event. So if your making a request send us simply: the date of the event, number of people and a mailing address at least thirty days in advance and you can expect us to donate. This issue is a good one with a good mix of articles, lately we have had a lot more writers wanting to come on board, look for them in the future. Also with the June/July issue look for a major announcement... actually TWO major announcements from us.... don't worry they are good. For now I need to run, it's spring time to work dogs...
